Staying Hydrated in Virginia Beach

It’s a scorcher outside! I personally prefer this weather as opposed to 40-50 degrees YUK! Of course who wouldn’t want it to be 70’s and no humidity! However, we don’t live in San Diego we live in Virginia Beach with 100% humidity! LOL.

Staying hydrated is important

Staying hydrated is important

So, how are we going to stay hydrated throughout this summer? A general rule of thumb is to drink half of your body weight in ounces of water a day. So if you are 200 lbs you need to be drinking 100 ounces, which is a little over 3 liters, of water each day! If you are barely drinking 10 ounces of water just take this a little bit at a time and work up to it. You don’t need to feel over whelmed but you can start to shift your water intake. If you are currently drinking soda you can start by reducing the amount of soda you are drinking. Once you are drinking your necessary amount of water then you can start looking at what is depleting your water supply. If you are drinking coffee, tea, soda, or alcohol during the day then you need to increase your water intake as well.

This all can sound like a lot but taking it one gulp at a time is progress! Working towards drinking more water has benefits too! It increases your energy level, clears up your skin and keeps your head clear. Dehydration can cause diarrhea, headaches, stomach aches, dizziness, fatigue and many other complications.

Your body is 70% water! You need to keep its tank full!
